Dr. Ata Dönmez joined BilMech as an assistant professor!

Dr. Ata Dönmez received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University. During his Master's studies, he worked at Roketsan as a research and design engineer focusing on motion and vibration control systems. In 2022, he earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in the field of nonlinear dynamics of gear systems. Dr. Dönmez’s postdoctoral research at Ohio State University from 2022 to 2025 focused on experimental and theoretical approaches to explain complex nonlinear phenomena in mechanical structures. He served as a co-principal investigator on several industrial and DARPA-funded projects.

In the Fall semester of 2025, Dr. Dönmez joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bilkent University as an Assistant Professor and leads the Structural Dynamics and Nonlinear Behavior research group. Dr. Dönmez is a recipient of the TÜBİTAK 2232B International Young Researchers Fellowship.
