Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldıray Yıldız returned from IFAC HMS’25.Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldıray Yıldız returned from IFAC HMS’25. He gave a plenary lecture on keeping the human in the loop, rather than replacing the human as AI algorithms are developed. He mainly focused on the need for harmonious collaboration between humans and AI to design high-performing and trustworthy systems. One theme that came up repeatedly in the questions afterwards was the concern of control authority: Who should have the final control authority, humans or machines? Dr. Yıldız stated that, at least for the foreseeable future, the human must always be the final authority and be able to override automation when necessary. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers and to everyone who joined the discussions through questions and hallway chats.
