Yıldıray Yıldız Takes Over as Chair of IFAC Technical Committee

Assoc. Prof. Yıldıray Yıldız of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has begun serving as Chair of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Technical Committee 9.2, Systems and Control for Societal Impact, for the 2026–29 triennium. The handover from the outgoing chair, Mariana Netto of Université Gustave Eiffel, took place during the 23rd IFAC World Congress, held in Busan, Republic of Korea, on August 23–28, 2026. IFAC TC 9.2 brings together researchers working on the impact of control, automation and learning systems on individuals and society. Its scope includes cyber-physical-human systems and the broader human and societal implications of emerging automation and artificial intelligence technologies. Yıldız previously served as deputy chair of TC 9.2 and was general chair of the 2024 IFAC Workshop on Cyber-Physical Human Systems (CPHS) in Antalya, Türkiye, the committee's flagship scientific event. As chair, he will lead TC 9.2's international activities and research community during the new three-year IFAC term.
