Chitosan nanoparticles have a biodegradable, biocompatible, non-toxic structure, and are commonly used for drug delivery systems. The objective of the this project is to design, model and fabricate a microfluidic device for the synthesis of chitosan nanoparticles. The microfluidic chip will be fabricated out of PDMS. The fabrication of the mold for the microfluidic device will performed using high-precision micro-machining. Compared to conventional batch-type methods, a microfluidic device can perform the synthesis much faster and in a much automated and convenient manner. The characterization of the synthesis process will also be determined.
