BIOGRAPHY

Evren Samur received his B.S. from METU in 2003, his M.S. from Koç University in 2005, and his Ph.D. in Robotics from EPFL in Switzerland in 2010. His Ph.D. thesis won the EuroHaptics Society's Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in 2010. Dr. Samur was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University in 2011 and a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Boston University in 2021. His research primarily focuses on soft and medical robotics, and encompasses broader areas such as industrial robotics, marine robotics, and haptics. Dr. Samur was the principal investigator for several TÜBİTAK- and EU-funded projects, including a Marie Curie Career Integration Grant. Currently, he coordinates the SHEREC project, which is funded under the Horizon Europe program. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the IFToMM and serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR) and the ACM Transactions on Human-Robot Interaction (THRI).
